Raven Boer is a student artist at Yavapai College. She was born in the California Bay Area and currently resides in Arizona’s Verde Valley where she creates her work. Her oil paintings capture still lifes that are inspired by the 17th-century Dutch genre called Vanitas. Her style also draws from influences of American realist painters like Edward Hopper and Wayne Thiebaud. To reflect upon the traditional family heirlooms found in Vanitas paintings, she uses found and thrifted items as well as unique family artwork, collected items, and plants from her parents garden within her still lifes.
